SUPER A HYDRAULICS

Just got a recently purchased Super A out to do some work... Found out the lift is real slow!!!!!! If I work the rear lift up it moves real solw....Then if I move the front lift back & forth (no implement attached) it lifts the rear one in spurts....
So I drained the fluid & it was OK as well as the screen in the left side. So I decided to change the oil also & it seemed rather clear. Drained it & refilled everything & it appears that the hydraulic fluid is getting into the crankcase....
1) Is the hydraulic pump seal failure the only way for fluid to get in the crankcase???
2) Is there a rebuild kit for the pump?????????

Any help would be appreciated...Snows coming & I hope to plow with this little thing.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

1. Yes, 2. No. You need a seal for the pump, it is either a normal seal or an o-ring. If the shaft where the seal runs is grooved you need a speedi- or redi-sleeve (trade names) over the shaft. If an o-ring the hole the shaft goes through will have to be enlarged to accept the sleeve. Take it to a machine shop for accuracy. Rather than the pump, the block under the tank probably needs to be overhauled. Otherwise you need a new pump. CaseIH sells a kit containing mostly gaskets and seals for $100+. Yours is a common problem. The kit is LOT cheaper than the pump, try that first.

For him or me?--I have already done one of those, have also seen your original post. The thing is pretty much self explanatory, particularly with a parts manual.

(quoted from post at 18:01:06 10/12/09) I have pictures, if they"ll be any help to you.

P and R Pete

Thanks for the response & yes photos would be great!!!!!!
If you want to E mail them. [email protected]
Or post them....which ever is easier....I tried to find them using the forum search function but all I got were X in red

Some of the posts indicate 2 types of pump????? is there an external way to distinguish them???

Thanks

V10, I wrote from work last night, so I"ll get scrounging up the pics I have and send them to your e-mail.

CNKS, I consider you a master-mechanic with these things. I, for one, have only one tractor, my first, and go into these projects with a ton of trepidation about screwing things up, and pictures are worth their weight in gold.
Well, for me.

UPDATE:
The pump on mine is apparently from a 100 not super A

Got the pump off & found it has 2#'s on it....24EZ52P04 &
383013R94 which is what is the IH part#
What I did discovered was that there were 2 brands of pumps used...Cesna & then mine which is a WOOSTER...which uses the cresent woodruff key on the shaft for the gear......cresent uses a square key.

Lookslike the PART# for the seal is 383021R91
GASKET set & seal is 383016R92

They want $86 for the kit???? Does that seem right????

Has anyone just made their own gaskets & bought NAPA O rings for the lines???
I am going to see if I can get the # off the seal & source that through an autoparts store also..

ALso I hope I didn't make a mistake by pulling that rubber O-ring out on the manifold side of the pump.....I got it back in but I think I streached it a little, & I dont think that is a servicable piece??????

Any input??

$86 sounds cheap, I paid almost $100 several years ago, I hope they haven't discontinued any parts. As to the seal, that is probably still available from CaseIH, if not, a place the specializes in bearings and seals can probably get it. I prefer not to use old seals, even when I don't think I have damaged them. Never heard of Wooster, but I don't have a 100. The older models have either Cessna or Pesco.

I think I fixed the leak, with the seal # I listed above & it was about $12.00 seal from IH & it had CR-7443 on it............. Save a few bucks & get it at NAPA or local autoparts.
Unfortunitly it didn't totally solve my problem....the lift is still slow & week. My 80# son stood on the little spring tooth that I use & it would barely lift him. So I guess now it's time to get that hydraulic gauge out & test the pump.. Before I rebuild the soft touch system.

An update...
I fixed it completely bu replacing the actual hydraulics.....So Im guessing that my 1st pump was good.... I havent tore into the hydraulics yet but my guess is sludge in the system clogged something.

Also I was pleasently suprised on how much this little thing will lift.... I have a modified 4 point hitch on the rear & was able to lift quite a bit....

Thanks for all the help from everyone
