706 farmall starving for gas

Hi, I have a problem with my 706 starving for gas it has a fuel shut off solenoid. does the carb have any adjustments that I can make??
the tractor runs great with the choke pulled out about 1/4. Thanks Jason

I have had a 656 gas & 756 gas that had those electric fuel shutoffs. There is no fuel adjustment , either they're on or off , works or doesn't work. You can remove it & put in the old style needle valve if you want. I never tried it, some say it helps & some says it doesn't.

Sounds more like you have a restriction somewhere in your fuel supply. If you have checked your screen going into the carb & the one in the sediment bulb I would pull the sediment bulb housing out of the fuel tank & see if the inlet opening is plugged. On older tractors I like to put a piece of copper tubing into the fuel inlet of the housing so that it will stick up about 3/4" to 1" higher. That way if there's any crud in the bottom of the gas tank in the inlet will be above it.

My IH544 had the shutoff disabled when I got it. I repaired it, though: I kind of like having a tractor that stops when I shut off the ignition.

Purpose of the electric fuel shutoff is to shut the flow of the gas off to the carb. More of a safety feature than anything. The emnine is shutoff by killing the spark like on the earlier gas tractors.

I know of at least a couple tractors that have been converted over to the old style needle valve & they shut right down when the key is turned off.

The C200 engine tends to diesel when it has been worked hard and is fully up to temperature. The solinoid makes sure it stops right now.

I had a similar issue with my 756 gas, I too thought it was a fuel issue. After speaking with a mechanic at our local Case-IH dealer I changed the points, plugs, and coil. That fixed the problem.

Were I in your shoes I would look at the coil.

First off Pull the sediment bowl out and make sure that there is no junk in the inlet and that you have full flow to the carb . Next Make sure that your timing is correct for the engine as i do not know what you have as if it is a C263 or a C291 or a C263 to a 291 update . THEN MAKE SURE THAT YOUR RUNNING 93 octane gas in it as that is the MINIUM OCTANE rating for that tractor . NO IF ANS OR BUTS about it I have worked on many 706 gassers and we still run them everyday on the farm . When ya set one up run the wright fuel in it she will do everything you ask of her .As for the shutoff solenoid on the carb they either work or they don't It will either start and run or it will not run .
