I'm looking into buying either a wd-9 or W9..what are the pros and cons here..Your input would be appreciated...

That is it. If they are equal in every way, and run well, with similar tires they are fine. If not running, the diesel has some added costs, but they both have parts issues, the gas engine is also modestly rare.

I got my WD-9 in Feb of this year they are expensive to work on but once you have it you will like it so much you won't care Mine had set for a lot of years before I got it and the plunger it the fuel pump was stuck but another person sent me pics of the pump tear down and it wasn't that hard to fix The biggest thing to watch for is a cracked head they are very expensive

I just finished my wd9 it is a 53 with hydraulics and a belt pulley I really enjoyed going thru it. the diesels can get very expensive if it needs overhauled 2000 or better for engine parts and atl least a 1000 for the rebiuld on the pump. not sure about the injecters. either tractor would be a good choice, and as far as parts you can still find them you just have to beat the bushes a bit harder.

Okay, the diesels are harder to work on. The -9's engine heads had a tendency to crack if not cooled down properly. The W-9's engine is easier to work on, plus you don't have to switch to diesel. They both are hard to find parts for. If you do crack a head, good luck finding one. But, I love these machines so either one you choose, I'm sure you'll be happy. I haven't heard of a person who owned a -9 they didn't like.
