JB Weld question(s)

Can JB weld be used for a cosmetic fix? The radiator shutter crank arm, then one that travels way down the right side of my H, is worn down where it rubbed in its guide. If I put some JB weld in there to fill it up, them smooth it... will that work?

Also, can I use JB weld as a "glue"? I have some radiator shutters that have worn out their guide holes. I was thinking of getting some eyelets to put in there. Was wondering if I could 'tack' them in with JB weld?

yes, it can be used as a cosmetic fix, works good. kind of tough to sand. use a file, shape it, then fill with body filler. yes, have used it as a glue also, but still had fiberglass over it, then a bondo. pg

In this situation, I would use Permatex Perma-poxy---part no. 84109. It sets in 4 minutes & is better than JB. Get it at Farm & Fleet--probably auto stores also. Around $4 if not less.

JB Weld is ok for all that stuff. PC 7 is better for glueing. PC makes a whole line of epoxy type fillers and is a great adhesive. Found at Ace Hardware stores. Clean well with alcohol or lacquer thinner before applying. Keep a fairly even mix. Too much hardner will make it crumbly . Henry
