Next question. Does it matter which way the magnet goes on? One end is marked N, presumably for North. It sparks both ways.

Always mark it before you remove it. If you take a good look at it, you can probably tell wich side was toward the engine block. If not restall with hoter spark. Use a pice of paper. Put it btween the spark plug wire and a ground. Trip the mag. Wich ever way the magnet is that burns a bigger hole in the paper is the correct way for the magnet.

I don't think it should make any difference as it reverses every other firing. The F4 has the IHC logo to the outside when on the engine.
