Are there Wheel seals on a Farmall C?

Are there Wheel seals on a Farmall C? I couldn't find them in any catalogues or online. My 1949 leaks where the axel stubs leave the tractor body. How do I stop it, and if they are seal, what is the size or part number? Thanks

You need a parts manual. In the absence of that, go to www.caseih.com and look at the parts diagram--you need to become familiar with that anyway. Have a bearing/seal place (NAPA, etc)cross the IH number to a National or Chicago Rawhide number, or order from your CaseIH dealer if you have one close. The inner seals-next to the differential are the problem, there is not supposed to be oil in the axle housings.

As CNKS says, there is not supposed to be oil in the axle carrier (the cast piece that contains the axle). The outer bearing is only lubed by the grease fitting unless oil is leaking past the inner seal which is at the transmission end of the axle. Replacing that inner oil seal is a pretty big job, so if the leak is not too bad, you might just want to live with it or possibly do only the outer seal which only requires removing the wheel from the axle. However, It's likely replacing the outer seal will only slow down the leak not get rid of it.
