H Fenders and Tool Boxes

I'm wondering if H's came with fenders and tool boxes as standard equipment or not. I'm thinking that if they did there would be a lot more with them then there is. My H currently doesn't have them but I believe that it had a corn picker setup on it at one time so I think that the fenders would have been removed for that add on. I've been thinking about getting a set for mine but they have gotten really expensive out my way. Just wondering.

the fenders were an option, except in a couple of fender mandated states. the tool box was standard with the pipe seat. but when ih started using the monroe seat no more toolbox.

I take it the pipe seat is the seat with the coil spring and shock absorber on it? If thats the case I'll be looking for a Tool Box.

No; the tube seat was the version BEFORE they came with the shock absorber. Check out some of the older models in the tractor photo section.

Back in 1950, fenders were optional and cost $15.75 per pair. Times were still kind of tough following WWII so many farmers figured they needed other things more than a couple fenders.

Don't be confused, because there were technically 3 tool boxes offered. One came on the standard curved pipe seat. The one with the spring sticking up at the base on the front. The "tool box" was more a container, than a "box". The second, and the one I'll bet the one you are referring to, is the "Light Bar Tool Box", which mounts in front of the light bar under the steering shaft. These were an option, and I've never seen one on an H other than on a restored show tractor. The third was one that attached to the side rail next to the engine. This may not have been an IH option, but I have seen them on a few show and working tractors.

The light bar box is the one I was referring to. I'm still a little confused with the seat thing but I'm thinking that it probably My H is a 51, I'm pretty sure the seat I have is the pipe style. Mine looks like a bent pipe going up to the seat. It has a Coil spring that looks like an upside down volcano, and it fits in to a pocket on the bottom side of the tube below the seat. It also has shock absorber on it as well. I can't remember where its mounted. My tractor was complete(minus these items) when I got it. I really don't think that it ever had a tool box.

The coil spring plus the shock absorber immediately identifies your seat as the "Monroe" style seat. It is NOT the original "pipe style"

The "Monroe" did not have any sort of tool box.

...I'm still a little confused with the seat thing...
This the "pipe" seat we're referring to. The tool box is that triangular sheet of metal bent and attached to the pipe. Like I said, it's more of a container than a box.

I just picked up a tool box at a farm sale for $6 and as far as fenders go they all are expensive unless totally rusted. I am in process of fabricationg fenders out of a 64 inch diameter fuel barrel to make a wheatland style fenders. So far the cost in those are $50 for lights and other stuff, I was given the barrel. I will have two back lights, flashers, radio, and mirror mounted to them when I am all done.
