100 starter is bad

Mine has the rear cover broken in 2 halves ( I guess the cast-in lip and 2 screws that hold the whole thing together DONT hold it together so well).

The bendix spring appears to have over-stretched according to our starter guy, it didn"t have the proper number of washers on the front end of the drive, and no washers behind the bendix. If I remember correctly, one of my starters had a felt washer on the armature side of the bendix get all tangled up in the bendix, so I just pulled it out.

Anyone got a good Delco Remy back cover ? I can get a bendix, and we think the rest of my starter is usable ?

With the original style drive there should be three washers on the drive end and one on the brush end. The two on the ends have the smaller ID and control the armature end play. The other two on the drive end have a large ID and slip over the shaft and control the forward movement of the drive. When you change to the newer drive without the spring you leave those two washers out, they are no longer required.
