Ha guy its my first time in an M.
Grandfathers 1944 M Sat outback for 25 years.
I pulled off head it is a mess
Pushed out all sleeves and pistons.
Should I have O ring on sleeves? I didn't see any. Whats the best way to get the pistons out of the sleeves would like to save and reuse the rods. this is only the beginning. I am sure I will be back many time for help. oldiron29

There are no o-rings on the sleeves. Heat the sleeves to get the pistons out, or just break the sleeves. Really isn't an easy way.

I'd get a rebuild kit with new sleeves and pistons in it. I mean, if you've taken the block down that far, why not just rebuild it right? Get the block cleaned up at a machine shop, and put all new gear in it. That way it will run well for the next 25 years and beyond!

Use an angle grinder to cut the sleeve vertically and then the piston will come out. May have to use a chisel to spread the sleeve to break the piston loose. I had used a torch and press and couldn't get the piston out, but was easy after cutting the sleeve. Good luck.
