If using the classic forum put MD in the search box and hit go. Should find what you want to know. If not feel free to ask another question.

Gas valve on, Diesel fuel valve on. Switch over lever on LH side forward(for gas running). Speed control lever all the way down to diesel shut off (Thats the lever or LH side of steering shaft. If there is ignition switch, turn it on. If no ignition switch is obvious, it likely still has the original system which has a switch that is activated by the switch over lever. Give it some choke and hit the starter. If it does not start on 3 or 4 turns, you have problems. If it starts, let it run on gas for 2 or 3 minutes if the weather is warm. If cold may take longer. Then pull back switchover lever and advance speed control lever at same time. If all is ok it will switch to diesel. To shut down, push switchover lever forward and speed control down at the same time to switch back to gas. Turn off gas under tank and let it die due to lack of gas. When it dies, pull the switch over lever back to the diesel position.

You need to get a manual!!! My instructions above assume it was a running tractor in decent condition. These things require maintenance on the injector pump. The pump has an oil sump that holds about a cup of oil. Level petcock on side of pump. Best to drain the pump and refill with new engine oil.

The switch over lever has four functions. It opens (for gas running) the compression release valves in the cylinder head and closes them for diesel running. It changes butterfly valves in the manifold to direct air through the carburator for gas running. It turns the ignition on for gas running. and finally when you switch to diesel, it lifts the float in the carburator to shut off the gas flow when running on diesel. This is a complicated linkage and if not adjusted properly you will have problems.
