Sleeve retainer

I was wondering if any of you have ever used a Loctite or Permatex type of sleeve retainer to hold a loose sleeve? If you have did you have any trouble of any kind, and how hard did you use the tractor? Am thinking of trying some in my 666.

I used aluminum foil successfully to fix a loose sleeve on an 8N. I calculated the amount of foil needed to produce an interference fit, ran the sleeve well up above the block, sealed the top of the piston with grease, wrapped the foil on, filled the sleeve with LN2, waited for the sleeve to cool down and shrink, and ran the sleeve back down into the block. Held for several years until I rebuilt the engine.

The sleeves in your C291 depend upon an interference fit to hold them in place. I think you would be much better served by using an oversize sleeve.

It may be possible that Loctite may hold it in place but since there is nothing else to hold the sleeve in position, if it starts to move it will soon destroy itself and probably do other damage as well.
