686 TA problem

On my 686 it seems to work good until you have it under load and you pull back on the TA .It works good in low but when you push it back into direct drive it doesnt ingage right away like it should. It takes a few seconds to take hold. Can this be fixed without splitting the tractor or do i need a new TA. If so can you take the Ta out and just have direct drive? Thanks Erik...

Sounds like the TA clutch is slipping. The tractor will have to be split to change it.

Don't know if TA eliminator kits are available for this tractor or not but I would fix the TA. I LOVE my TA.

Erik: I know of a 656, acting as you describe, and they were able to correct it with adjustment. I was never able to do a follow up to see if the adjustment turned into a long term fix.

There are eliminator kits for all TA, however the cost is almost as much as rebuilt TA.

Just put in the t/a and forget about the elimination. You evidently use the t/a enough to keep one in the tractor. It would also lose value $ wise. I have replacement t/a parts or complete t/a"s shoot me an email when you get the split done and I"ll try to help ya out best I can.
