My shop overhead door, almost an altar

Boys,
How about this? I painted it on the inside of my shop door.

that should be a little more comforting to the H since you got him stuck in there with no company and the door closed, what did he do wrong? but yes good.

Lowell: When you e mailed that late last evening, I thought it was the outside and tractor was in the driveway. Must have been late, now I see the door hinge pivots.

Just maybe Pat is painting on the outside, or at least is having a say. I can only imagine what mural she may choose. Something like, "Old boy and his toy."

rustred, now that is a cleaver response. Nice paint job and a shiny floor to boot. Does anyone have the old IHC logo painted on something? There would be lots of curves to that old logo.

I'd like to see more of that H as well! Love the door!

I just got my little john deere for my jar. 8)

What a great idea !

I've been keeping my eye on an outdoor IH sign at a dealership that lost its IH truck line in the external_link-fixes-everything-with-your-taxes plan. I sure hope I can get it. That one sign will light up my entire open shop area at night !

Mike CA,
Put three of those little JD tractors in that jar like I did. They all vibrate and the little wheels go round as the H engine runs. You send me an email address and I'll send you a tractor pic; before and after.
Or dig out your copy of Red Power, May/June 2005.

To all others who responded,
I got the overhead door idea from a fellow Wisconsin citizen (he had a pic of his door on this forum a couple yrs ago), but I can't remember who it was). It's a hoot to watch people's reactions when they walk into that shed.

I had just such an idea for one of my garage doors. My mistake was mentioning what I thought was a grand idea to the minister of finance and public works (one woman, two titles).

I like it!

Scotty,
I thought maybe I'd have the same problem, especially if I painted it on the OUTSIDE of the door. We live on 9 acres which is next to a nice residential area and I really didn't want it to look too garish.
So I painted it, then asked the minister of public works (finance minister had no say in the matter because I used paint I had on hand) to come out and "look at something new in my shop". I knew her first reaction would be an automatic negative (she ain't into tractors), but also knew that she immediately would be grateful that I didn't paint it on the outside of the door. So after a long 10 seconds, she said diplomatically "That's very nice". Even though it's my shop, this is one of those rare "win wins" you get when you have been married 43 yrs.
What I'd really like is a big mural on the outside of the door with a Canadian lake and showing a big walleye cruising just below the surface. Ain't gonna happen on the outside, but I do have another door....

rustred,
How do you know that H is the only one?
And...that H ain't a "he". Everybody knows every old tractor is a "she".
