Cub overhaul

a friend of mine just had a little cub motor overhauled, start's and runs great, but it has no oil pressure. It has plenty of oil, but the filter is dry as a bone. Where does he go from here. What should he check? Thanks in advance.

remove the oil filter cover. there is a hole on the inside opposite the gauge. use a can to pump oil in there till it is full. crank with starter a little to make sure oil is flowing. once it is, put cover back on and try it. you have just primed the oil pump,. needing to do that is normal after overhaul of cub.

Yeah, but if the block is already attached to the tube, it is a whole lot easier to go through the oil filter hole.

Bill is correct. It is much easier to prime it through the filter element casing. In the GSS-1013 Engine Lubrication System Service Manual, page 3 shows the cut-away diagram of the galleys and where to prime. The instructions for priming are also there.

The Cub Manual Server should be back up later today. Some sort of problem that is being worked on. Then just have a look at it and you will see it clearly. It is right at the bottom of the casing at about 11oclock roughly.

Hope this helps.
