I have a friend in the Western New York area who is moving. He has a stuck 1937 A that has been sitting out in his yard for about 20 years. He wants to sell it and has approached me to help him. Unfortunately some irresponsible person told him it is worth an easy $1000.00. I printed a copy of the tractor values for a Farmall A from this site however there are no current sale prices the most recent being 1999. I don't even think its worth $500.00. Could anyone provide any value.

Yes a A in good running condition could sell for $1000.00 to $1500.00.
One that has been sitting outside for 20 years and is stuck $200.00-$300.00.
You will put over a $1000.00 in it.

I just bought 2 A's one 1940 and one 1942 the 1940 same situation as yours sitting outside motor stuck. The 1942 barn kept and a good running tractor. Bought both tractors for $1500.00 I took the front end, grill, hood, floor pan, lights, seat, and 2 good wheels off the 1940 and sold the what was left of the tractor for $300.00 last weekend. We are in Western NC

The A I have I got about 3 years ago. It was taken apart Hood, maifold, generator fan etc. in pieces in the garage. Engine had been rebuilt but then just covered with an old coat. Tires new but starting to rot from sitting in one place for about 10 years.
Gave $100 and 3 cord of firewood for it.

Just bought a 1940 A for $850. Running, with starter installed on it. Doesn't look too bad, just a bad paint job.

I bought my 1940 A for $400 last march. It needed paint, some seals, and a carb kit. I was able to get it running within 15 minutes of getting it home. Location and how bad the owner wants to sell it can make a big difference in price.

New rear tires $500 from our Co-Op. Setting in the yard for 20 years if it were mine. New points, coil, condenser, rotor, cap, plugs, plug wires and an oil change before I'd even try to start it. All this is assuming she ain't stuck. Jeff is right if all you have in it over the asking price is $1000 you'll be doing good.

Paid 700 for a running 41 A with good tires all around, starter.and turning plough. Added muffler and drawbar. 100. Runs like a top, needs paint, Western NC(Murphy) Henry

I've got a project A near Utica NY for sale. It needs a grill, battery box, battery, wiring harness, lights, rear tire, front tires, and a paint job.
