Here they are... I had to post the preliminary results of the suspected engine, non-metallic knock problem.

I think this is the culprit. I hope this is the ONLY culprit.

Thanks,

most certainly is the culprit.i take it your getting them all checked out.could be others on border line.those precups only go in one way , and are marked "up" on them. they are in the proper position now,#4 looks a little sideways. otherwise it will be hard starting.should renew those ring gskts.and clean everything good.those are a neat little engine, as i have one in a 340 utility.

Thanks RustRed, I have learned quite a bit troubleshooting this. I noticed the pre-cups were a little off center on all ot the cylinders, not bad, almost at 6 0'clock.

Just got off the phone with the diesel man. He said the wet injector was leaking and cracked at about 150 psi. The others cracked at about 900 psi. He said he would clean the 3 good ones and rebuild the one from cylinder 4. He said depending on parts, $60-$80. Not too bad. He also said the leaking injector would make it knock like hell...

Thanks,

CT

Hi Charles. I'm kind of a new tractor collector and live in Middletown, CT. I see you post here often and always end your post with a CT so I'm assuming you also live it CT. I also just bought a 504 and was looking for info and parts for my tractor. Any info would be great. If you could please send me an email @ [email protected] Any other farmall guys in CT feel free to contact me also. I would also be interested in joining a club in the area and not really sure whats out there. Thanks Scott

Scott in CT, I sent you an email pertaining to 504's. I appoligize for the misunderstanding, I am not from CT, I am in NW LA (Louisiana, not CA!).
