I"ve been thinking about making a 3 point hitch for my Farmall 200 for some time now. I really don"t think it"s going to be that hard of a job, and definitely will cost less than 800.00. That would all depend on what kinda supplies a person already has on hand. For me, I"m thinking that hydraulic cylinders are going to be the biggest expense. The other day I was studying my tractor trying to come up with a game plan and I had a idea. What if I was to move my hydraulic arms from under the gas tank to behind the seat some how. I think that might work and might work no matter which end is up and long as the arms are moving vertically. To the folks that had also been thinking about making a 3 point hitch, can you share your ideas or how far you got. I"m pretty much thinking about something along the lines of the Saginaw hitch. Currently, I only have a drawbar back there.

I have made several for two H's, M, JD A. They cost me about $350. I found 3X8 cyclinders on ebay or Surplus Center for less than $100. It took 2 full days to fabricate but they work good. I made them to accept two cyclinders but have not found a need for two.

To start with touch control under the seat will probably lift 300 lbs. max. A Saginaw will lift 1,000 lbs.

If you want a good hitch that will lift up to 1,000 lbs., then you have to use a remote control valve, rear cylinder and a rockshaft. By the time you get all that plus 3 point linkage bought, Saginaw hitch will look quite inexpensive. Hydraulic valves and cylinders are something I never buy used. Used hydraulic parts are usually for sale because they are someone's junk.

I build 3 point hitches for Super A, 100, 130 and 140, mainly because Worksaver build junk, plus one can get good machanical advantage from the front rockshaft. You can't get that same mechanical advantage on a C, SC, 200, etc. without going to the remote valve and rear rockshaft operated by an external cylinder at back. Differently configured tractor. Saginaw do a good job on that, and no one will compete with them. That is why I don't build hitches for C, SA or 200. Believe me I have cost it out.

"touch control under the seat will probably lift 300 lbs. max"

so .. you"re saying .. the hydraulics that are currently on my Farmall will only lift about 300 pounds? I guess belly mowers don"t weight much but I"d thought a 200 would be able to lift more than that from the middle.. but.. it"s good information. I might have to find some kinda way to test this.. still this is good information.. something I did not think about.

Thanks Hugh !

three_deer: The mechanical advantage of the center is quite different from a 3 point hitch. My belly mower is only 5', I'm 67 and can quite easily grab front of my mower and lift it full height, probably close to 100lb. lift.

You go to 3 point hitch and on most implements, all the weight being lifted is behind hitch pins on end of lower links. Quite different.
