IHC Farmall Mounted Sickle Mower

I just bought what I believe is #16 mower. What is the difference between the Cub-22 or the 16A or 16HM or maybe a 16C mower? The flywhhel/pulley is large and has 3 oval holes. The pto shaft is only about 6 inches plus the coupler/u-joints on the ends. The sickle is 7ft long, so I think it's too long to be a Cub-22 or a #16A mower. It looks like it would fit a Farmall H. It has a round rod about 5 1/2 ft long with a round loop on the end that is part of the lift portion of the mower.
Should the pto be centered in the frame? This mower is about 4" to the left of center.
How could I tell if it would be correct for a Super C?
Thank you for any help.
Loren

IF this is a arer mount mower, with the lift rod sounds like it is for a C. The berackets that mount over the axles will be hex shaped instead of square, as the C axles are hex. Thwe long rod goes up to the lift harms on the C.

Loren: Cub 22 is a side or center mount mower for Cub only. There is a SA 22 but it is different for mounting to SA.

The No. 16 is a fully mounted rear mower, has different mounting hardware depending on tractor. A-16 fits A or SA, C-16 fits C or SC and H-M-16 fits H, M, SH and SM. In all cases drawbar must be removed. A mower bolts to final drives, and others all bolt to axle carriers, difference between C and H-M is size of axle carriers. As I recall PTO shaft does run a bit offset on C, H and M, quite straight on A or SA due to offset PTO.

The A-16 was available in 7' version, Being fully mounted it created enough rear weight, one needed front wheel weights. I used a 7' semi-mount on my 130 for years, tail wheel made the rear weight situation much better. I had my semi-mount equipped so I could use it on either Farmall 130 or 300. The 300 would not out mow the 130, even in hill country. 130 was agile enough it more than made up for 300 power and weight.

Those semi-mount mowers all had model numbers in twenties, same basic mowing device as the 16, but a different mounting frame with a caster wheel at back. Much faster mower to hitch and unhitch as it bolted to drawbar cross bar. When used on a C or SC tractor was equipped with drawbar similar to an H.

Thanks for all your help. I don't have the axle mounts but they look like the cultivator mounts may work. Sounds like this would work on both the H/M or C/SC. I just need the correct mounts
The mower is in very nice shape and still has a lot of red paint. Cost was $125 at a local consignment auction Sat. I don't need it but thought it was interesting.
Does the mounting frame have a different width on the C or HM models? I have a SC but may buy a H to mount this on as my SC is dedicated to plowing snow. There were very nice H's at the sale for $650 to $800 with nice paint/older restorations with good rubber. Had some Super H's for $1200 to $1400 -again nice. Some had loaders. Poor H's brought around $450.
Thanks again,
Loren
There are picts of my Super C in the photo galleries (Tractor and/or Impl). Just do a search for "Loren" instead of the tractor.

Loren: All I know about the 16 mower is what I've read. I never had one. We looked at one new in the early 50s, didn't buy as we liked the faster mounting time of the semi-mount. We had neighbors tell us about 1 hour mounting time plus numerous jambed fingers with fully mounted mowers.

With the semi-mount you had a jack stand on each side and a flat plate bolted to drawbar with two 3/4 bolts. You put in those two bolts hooked up PTO and pull rod to front rockshaft and you were ready to mow, 5-7 min. at most.

These rear mounted mowers even the trailer mower all used the same mowing device, thus every model mowed well. Our neighbor had an A-16 on a Super A with hydraulic lift. I forget the model of our semi-mount on the 130. In the same field they were equal on mowing quality and speed. He had two Super A, never took the A-16 off one SA all summer. He raked with the other SA. We mowed and raked with the same 130.
