1952 SUPER C FARMALL QUESTION ????

I recently purchased a 1952 super c farmall and I cannot get the carb adjusted properly. So I just removed the carb and it appears to be a new Zenith. I dont believe this is the right model for this tractor according to my research. The part number on the little tag is 385608R91 my searching shows it is for an A or B not a super C. Can this carb be used if not what is the proper carb for my tractor? Any help is greatfully appreciated!!!!!!!!

Thanks Dustin IL

Well im not 100% sure but im almost sure they are all the same carb. on a super c or a super a and a 130, or 140. What do you have trouble adjusting the idle or just the way it runs?

I have that same number carb. on my Super C. It says on the box for 123 engines, A B and C. I've probably had mine atleast ten years, works great compared to the old Carter. No drips, no smoke and no fouled plugs.

I can't really answer your question, but I have looked at parts on the CaseIH web site, and no C113-C135 carburetor has a number that high, not that it wasn't changed (IH did that). The R series of numbers were not used on the A and B, that was a later designation. It may only need a good cleaning, or it may be for some other tractor. Most of the A-up gas carbs did not have a main jet adjustment, although it could be added. If it has one, with engine warm at WOT, turn in until the engine runs rough, out until smooth plus 1/4-1/2 turn, same with the idle mixture. Or perhaps the float is out of adjustment or sitcking. Try cleaning it first if no one else has an answer.

You posted as I was typing -- could have missed the number, or it was changed after the last parts book was printed.

You guys on here must have alot better luck out of a zenith than me the name still makes me cringe !! it does only have one adjustment what is the proper setting ????

I had some of the same problems with the original Carter UT carb and went through a few rebuilds and such and never corrected the problem. I put on a Zenith which ran somewhat better. I finally found the real problem was the air cleaner which was made by United Specialties is suppose to have an oil baffle above the oil cup which was missing. I obtained a complete air cleaner assembly made by Donaldson and swapped them out. The Donaldson doesn't have the baffle and also a different oil cup. An oil rich air mixture was being sucked into the engine which was leading to plug fouling and power loss shortly after a plug change. The air cleaner change ended my problems but my tractor runs far better with the Zenith carb as I reinstalled the Carter to see the difference after the air cleaner change. I went back to the Zenith very quickly. Hal

Sorry fo the slow reply been kind of ill .I definitely will clean carb and breather and give her a try again also noticed small hole in intake oart of manifold .Could this have some affect to it running rough also ????
