How fast does 6 volt starters turn over ?

I'm 54, and my 100 is 53 -- I've never heard a new or freshly rebuilt starter. With a new 6 volt battery delivering 6.8 volts, and 2 new battery cables, it doesn't spin like my 200 (which has a 12 volt conversion).

Kindof does "yonk" (spin) - yonk, yonk. Not spinspinspin.

Any advice ?

you may need a bendix in your starter, or just the nature of the beast. one of my 6v m's new battery, huge cables , fresh rebuildt starter, when it cranks over its wooooooooooo, woooooooooo, woooooooo, then fires, barely spins, the other m, older battery, lighter cables, older starter, spins like a 12v, and its a fresh rebuild motor. my cub spins slow, but my b spins fast. switching batterys doesnt make a difference, neither does adding the jump start battery charger.

Put that 100 on 12 volt and shell spin just as fast as the 200.

Start with the starter new brushes bearings and oil. Then clean the sw then 1ga cables and it will spin over like new. Take a sp reading of the batt cells to make sure the batt is in shape. The engine will spin great.
