Farmall H Carb.

Upper is idle mixture, lower is main, the third screw (highest) adjusts the rpm. You should not own a tractor unless you have at least an Operators manual.

Perhaps you should have told him that turning the idle screw to the right richens the mixture. I knew lots of older tractor mechanics/operators who were unable to read.

I bought an owners manual just after I got my H, it is helpful, but not as helpful as this forum!
Even instructions that came with carb rebuild kit I found to be too vauge for me. But thanks to guys here, carb and tractor work very well.

Yes, but that is not criticism -- I answered his question. There are many things in an Operators manual that he will never know about without one. Been on this forum 10+ years.

You are correct, but you simply turn the screw in or out until it runs smooth. I don't pay much attention to the direction. The problem occurs when turning it either way has no effect, then it is time for a carb overhaul.

The length of time you've been on this forum is irrelevant.
I'm not trying to pick a scrap here, I'm just saying that it doesn't take much to discourage people from asking questions if they think they're going receive a shot like that.

CNKS may have been a little to the point, but I don't think any offense was meant. An owners manual is invaluable. The service manual is pretty good. But I'll tell ya, the service manual can't hold a candle to getting answers on this forum. I should know, because I've asked hundreds of questions. :D
