Anyone have a Veturi for the SH/M? Apparently IH has retired that part. I am working on a 53SH. The upper #'s on the brass plate on the carb correspond with the SH but the bowl has the choke on the side away from the engine. From reading the archives I believe I have a SH upper and an M bowl. At any rate I need a venturi. Thanks.
 
Don't know what size you want to try. One below doesn't tell what size it is. Bunch of them were 47407 D. SH was 47407D23. SM 47407D27.
 
From what I can tell the M is only .002 bigger that tne SH. I also suspect that the one I have now that is in bad shape is for the M. It ran fine until it spun a bearing. At any rate please express an opinion?

Do you know what size this one is and please express an opinion as to whether it even matters. The research I have done show that the SH is .023, the M is.025, and the SM is .027. Did I interpet that correctly from the archives? I really don't understand what those measurements relate to.
 
Without knowing what is modified in engine or carburetor and what tractor will be used for, I have no opinion. If it run okay put the same one back. If you can't see the D 27 or whatever on it. A 23 hole is smaller than 3/4 inch dia. and a 27 is roughly 1/8 inch bigger.If you have a 3/4 inch bolt it won't go in a 23 and has a good bit of room in a 27. Far as I know all M tractors call for a D27 venturi.
 
deano, the venturi can't be only .002 difference in size. ih had them sized in 32nds. the 23 would be 23/32. the 27 would be 27/32 and so on. they made them up to 35/32.
 
Engine is a 1953 Super H-C164 with new sleeves and 3&9/16th domed pistons. should be a 169 cu inch now I believe. Everything is new and or remanufactured.
 
The one I have is a #33. The size I have found in nearly every M carburetor I have rebuilt is a #27. I may have one of those also. I'll need to dig.
