Can I use the hydraulic control lever that runs my 3-point hitch which has double acting cylinders and "re-pipe" the lines to my front loader that has single acting cylinders?
Bruce

No you dont run a single acting cycl with a two-way valve. Just add a single acting valve to the return of your two-way valve so its in series.Your two-way has a return going back to the pump resivour that would be the input of the new valve and the return of the new valve would use the same line the two-way used. What you are doing is adding another valve in series.

Thanks a lot Gene.
I had someone i work with tell me i could use the two way - but it didn't sound right.
I appreciate your help.

Why not? You just plumb one work port to the single acting cylinder and [u:5b81d6dca0]the other work port back to the reservoir[/u:5b81d6dca0]. Ports are [u:5b81d6dca0]generally[/u:5b81d6dca0] P to T in neutral with A and B blocked. Move the valve in one direction and the pressure goes to the head end of the cylinder and since the other work port B is already plumbed tothe reservoir, nothing happens there. Move the valve the other direction and the cylinder port returns to the resevoir, allowing the loader to drop. The pressure is then diverted through the other port to the reservoir. The key is to tie the second work port to the tank or reservoir... if it is plugged, the pressure will be 'dead-headed" against the plug and the system will build heat that it doesn't need.
In reality the valve is properly called a 4-way valve, not a 2 way, but that's just a difference in how people use the terminology.

Thanks IH,I also just called a local Hydraulic place. They confirmed what you suggest. My current valve will work. just re'route it.
