Hi Guys,

I found a SM that is reversed. It looks like it has all the parts to turn it back to normal configuration. Pretty rough shape and not running. What's this thing worth?
Along with this tractor is also a 300 again in rough shape. What's it worth? The serial # is 13206 SJ What is the SJ? I think the J is for Rockford clutch if I am remebering correctly. Will the live hydraulics and disc brake parts fit the early 53 SH that I"m restoring?

Is the SM a high crop? Most were reveresed to run cotton pickers (I think) so they were high crops. If so, I saw a JUNK one sell for about 9000. If it is a regular one I would pay scrap price. Same for the other tractor.

It's not a high crop. It has a single front wheel which is typical around here (south of Houston TX in cotton country)It's a Super M but the serial # is not readable. It's an early SM as it has a belly pump.

If its the type without geared drops on the rear axle. For forward change I think you have to flip the differential, move shifter to the other hole and get shifting forks for forward operation. Unless the forks are easy to find in your area, it may be simpler to get a regular transmission top with forks. What its worth would just be a guess. Depends on the person.
SJ on the 300 means it came with a t/a and parts to drive a independent PTO. J is what you said. Pump and brakes will work on your SH.

It was apparantly reversed to operate under a low drum picker. The only additional parts you need to restore it to normal forward operation are a set of regular shift forks. Just flip the differential, mount the forks, mount shift lever in opposite side and it is reversed. You will need to turn the front wheel around so it will caster and if the rear tire treads are backwards, swap sides with the tires so the lugs will be correct.

Even the tractors under high drum cotton pickers were not High Clear tractors. They were regular Farmall's with flange type rear axle housings to which bull gears were attached which raised the tractor and reversed the direction. The true Farmall High Clear tractors used chain drive drop housings.
