3point on M Famall

I have an after market 3 point on my M farmall. It handles a blade fine but if I put on a bale fork and try to lift a big round bale, it will not lift it. My loader will lift a 1300 lb bale using the pto pump. The 3 point was attached to the belly pump first and then to the pto pump but neither will lift a bale. The 3 point has a 2 inch cylinder on it. Would a bigger cylinder help? I was told that it would not. Any ideas. Thanks

I have an aftermarket 3 point on my Super H. It has places for two cylinders, but I only have one 3" cylinder on mine. If you only have a single 2" cylinder I can see why it will not lift a bale as those belly pumps only put out 500 - 800 psi depending on the model (if you do the math, a 2" cylinder only has an area of about 3 sq inches x 800psi = 2400 lbs force vs about twice that for a 3" cylinder). I have a fork attachment for mine and was able to lift almost 2000 lbs. However, I need my loader on to keep the front end on the ground.
If your 3 point will accept a second cylinder, I would do that otherwise replace the existing one with a 3 or 4 inch one. Roger

I have an aftermarket three point on my Super M with one three inch cylinder. My hydraulic pressure is supplied from a pump attached to an accessory drive on the engine. I am limited by the front end weight. It has really worked well for the last 20 myears. Hope this helps.

Jerry RV, I have a 3 point with two 3" cylinders mounted on my Super H. I have a 3 point with two 4" cylinders mounted on my M. Both of these set-ups will lift way more than I can manage because of the front ends lifting off the ground. I think if I weighted the front ends down enough the lift would break the tractors in two. However, I think I'll just lift half as much, twice. Get yourself two 4" cylinders and you will be happy. John

The larger the dia of the cycl the larger the force. figure the psixdia gives the force. Remember a two-way cycl will push more than it will pull as the dia of the piston rod does take away from the dia of the cycl. When you read the spec sheet thats why you see more push than pull.

change that 2 inch cylinder to a 3 1/2 or 4 inch and try to keep the front end on the ground
that two inch is way too small
