M oil change

I finally finished the oil/filter/pan change on my 41 M. I also cleaned the pickup screen while the pan was off. Oil pressure with the smashed pan was 15# at start-up. Now it's 60# at start-up. Here's my question, though: I put in 6 quarts of oil; nothing came out the top test-cock. I put in another quart, oil came out of the lower test-cock. I put in the eighth quart; still no oil from the upper test-cock. Eight qts. should fill it. Should I add more or just stop at 8 qts.?

8 qt. is correct. oil coming out of the lower pet cock is what you want.

Run the engine to fill up the filter, etc. and then add so oil runs out the top petcock. If it only runs out the lower one the oil level is not quite "full".
