IH 240 Utility hydraulic hose adapters.

I had a hydraulic hose to blow today. No problem, I had bought a couple spares several years ago. I thought they would fit BUT! The new hose has 1/2" I assume NPT fittings (one swivel) on both ends. New hose is a tad too big to fit the hydraulic cylinder and a tad too small to fit the ? under the seat. Seems I need two different size adapters to use the 1/2" hoses. Anyone ran into this problem before? Have a part number on the adapters? Many thanks. David...................

I would take the blown hose to a shop that makes hydraulic hoses and have a new hose made with correct end fittings. Looks like the other hoses have a female swivel nut that connect to JIC male tube fittings. Hal

the fast hitch hydraulic hoses are an o-ring type fitting, not npt threads. i had a hydraulic hose shop make me up 2 new hoses for my 240u.

I had a similar problem with my 240U until I deciphered the hydraulic hose fitting system, which was initially about as clear as mud.

Here"s some basic information.

This is a useful site, with helpful diagrams. They also have adapters that may help save the hoses you had made.

I took the two hoses to the local hydraulic shop and they fixed me up with adapters. The two 2' hoses I had were less than $10.00 each so I think I got by with less than if I had them to make me two new ones. I only changed the busted one out and will do the other later.Only took 1/2 gallon of fluid to refill. It sure looked like a lot more had sprayed out. Notice the old hose didn't have o rings but they didn't leak. David..........

If you you have a Colliflower Inc store in your area they can make any hydraulic hose with the correct fittings. They should have a store in Atlanta. They have a lot in stores in VA, PA and here in MD. I was in the store on this side of Baltimore to get a 5/16 push on swivel nut. They had a man in there just making new hydraulic hoses. Hal
