Hey Guy s
I am working on an early A with out starter want to put starter on it . Do I have to find another flywheel with ring gear or can i put Ring gear on existing flywheel?

I am not sure about the ring gear, someone else may chime in on that.
But, more important is does your bell housing have the mount for a starter.
 
Yes does your bell housing have the starter hole for a starter?

If I were to install a starter I would get the flywheel to go with it.

But if the mag is good along with the compression and the carb in good shape it shouldn't take much to crank it to get it started.

My dad had a Farmall "A" that only had a crank start and he had it since 1939 and just sold it last year, we never put an electric start on it.

There's not many of that style around that don't have a starter.
 
Depending when yours was built the flywheel could be mashined for a ring gear. You can take the inspection cover off and see if the flywheel is ready for a ring gear. You will need to change the bellhousing to have the place for the starter. Where do you live as i have the parts for the change.
