A 400 On Steel...

You could get factory steel through the F707/F806 line. Most if not all 706's and 806's on steel were sold for export. When we toured the Farmall Works in 63 or 64 they had the shipping lot full or F706's and F806's on steel wheels awaiting shipment to South America.

All of the late model Amish tractors I have seen pictures of on steel, have home made steel wheels. The 706/806 steel wheels were IHC factory wheels.

T. Lang in Eagle Lake Texas had one in his tractor salvage yard a few years back. Wanted to sell it whole. Was a 560 wide front full steel.

The online Case IH parts book still shows the 706/806 steel wheels 374385R91 noted as discontinued.

(quoted from post at 11:16:52 09/22/09) The operators manual says there was an option for steel wheels. Has anyone witnessed such a tractor & are there pictures? - Mike
