I have anti freeze in the oil pan of my 1086.I replaced the head gasket, checked and tested the oil cooler. when i put anti freeze in the engine, the anti-freeze ran down inside the number two cylinder. any ideas what the problem is?

A cracked block or cracked cyl. head. Did you do a comperssion test? Try to put compressed air into the each spark plug hole. Then listen for air coming out the intake or exhaust. Also look in the radiator for air bubbles. Rotate the engine (by hand is best, don"t want to liquid lock the engine with the starter)tell each cyl. is on the compression stroke. Look and listen all around.

My cousin's 886 went south early this spring due to electrolysis. Tractor had over 9K hours on it and too many other worn out parts to justify a rebuild for farm use. His IH mechanic bought it and made it into a puller.

How can you see ant-freeze running down the inside of the cylinder with the head on the motor? 99% of the time when the 414 and the 436 motors have antifreeze in the oil, the rubber seals around the outside of the sleeves in the block are gone. Do you change the coolant filter? It must be changed once a year.

Coolant coming down the inside of the sleeve on these engines is almost always due to a hole in the sleeve caused by cavitation. These holes are usually in the lower part of the sleeve on the thrust side. With the piston all the way up you will probably be able to see exactly where it is leaking.
