What should i check or do first? compression? I bought the tractor and changed the oil, now i can see the green antifreeze in it, I changed the oil and added antifreeze, i never noticed it before but i was black, but its got the new antifreeze in it. It seems to run fine.

i would check for cracked head or blown head gasket. then the block. I would check everything that i could think of before tear down. it will still sometimes run good with some major problems!

I had a small amount of antifreeze show up in my oil pan every spring after setting for the winter. Replaced head gasket and check everything I could think of to find the "leak". One spring when I went out to get the M out for work. The antifreeze was gone. It was in the oil pan. There is a soft plug under the front cover. It had been slowly rusting through and while it sat during the winter it finally had. I was glad I wasn't using it when it happened. I am not saying that this is the source of you problem. Just giving you another spot to look.

I wouldn't run it until you get the problem corrected- antifreeze is real hard on bearings, better to not circulate the contaminated oil through the oil system

a compresssion check in all cylinders would be the easiest way. they should all be within about 10-15 pounds of each other.

I feel your pain there! My 41 was getting water in the oil and we went through the usual rountines and being tired of fooling with it we just concluded the block was cracked. When we swapped engines, for giggles we tore the old one down and found the plug behind the plate, but by then the engine had done froze up from us using the head off of it.

I did the compression 60/50/60/50. What do i do next guys?? Does this mean the cylinder is not cracked or what??
