'55 300U hydraulic fluid check

Hey Guys,
On my 300u when you use the dipstick to check the hydraulic fluid in the resevoir, do you screw it in or just set it on the opening?(to read it) I've seen it both ways. Also is hydra-tran the same as hydra-touch?---thanks alot

Can't answer your first question, probably not much difference in fluid level, though. Hytran not hydra tran is Case IH hydraulic fluid. Hydra touch is IH's trade name for the hydraulic system.
