1066 injector problem

The rubber seal on the top of the injector on my 1066 was melted and it was puffing fuel mist and compression out. I figured it was the copper gasket. I replaced the gasket and the rubber seal an there is still fuel and compression puffing out. I cleaned the whole thing very well. What else could it possibly be? Any ideas?

Did you use a injector well brsh to clean it , if not then it is not clean . Then it also could be that the injector cup is cracked and needs replaced

The injector fits in a brass sleeve inside the cylinder head. The sleeve is a press fit ion the head. If the leak has gone on very long it is possible that there is erosion on the sealing surface of the sleeve so that the copper gasket will not seal properly. They are not difficult to replace with the proper tooling.

When working on the fuel system on these engines you should always drain the coolant before removing an injector. The outside of the injector sleeve is exposed to the coolant and if it sticks to the injector as it is removed, coolant can leak into the combustion chamber.
