Worn distributor

I have a miss in my H that I can't get rid of. Working on a couple of possibilities one being the distributor advance.

The pivot pins for the distributor weights are worn badly and need something done. I don't want to order a new one but have any of you guys replaced those pins before? I assume I would have to fabricate pins for myself.

Any other suggestions to repair them?

Slight enlargement, and reaming of holes to match will work. remember to keep the enlarged hole on the original center. JimN

When does it miss? Put a timing light on it and see if the marks are steady. There should be no centrifugal advance at idle, so if the mark is steady at idle your miss is elsewhere. See if the bushings on the shaft are worn. There should be no radial play. See if each lobe of the distributor cam opens the points an equal amount.

Yes, if you can make the pins. Remove the shaft from distributor and make pins a light press fit and swell them at bottom after installing. If there loose you can braize them at bottom, I have also carefully spot welded them in on bottom side and smoothed up. If the weight holes are oblong drill to next size and make the pins bigger where weights swing to match. You can buy a new shaft with the pins but around $150.
