Numbers are in on the TA rebuild. No wonder the SMTA's are expensive.
TA rebuild at IH dealer.......483
Topshaft......................179
Clutch kit, plate, disc, bearings..200
seals and new fluid...........128
labor? 200?
Total $1190
Pretty pricey for a show/parade tractor. But now that I have done everything to this old gal, I'm going to sell the restored H (sold $4100) and Stage II SH and use her for mowing and baling. Wipe the dust off and put her in the parade.

I have the t/a kits (ta, ta clutch, gaskets and seals) for $800. I am suprised that a dealer isn't higher than that. Does the topshaft need replaced? Most do. If the disk has beat on it bad enough to wear the splines it's junk. Make sure in the t/a rebuild you are getting a machined carrier. Machined ramp with new rollers. New needle bearings in the sun gears, new oil seals and bearings in the carrier and I would assume if they replace the topshaft it also gets a new bearing installed.

I have heard they go for about $2000-2200 if somebody else does the spilts.

What is your company? I might get ambitious this winter!

I do them all the time, i use sprag kits and dont use the ramp and roller anymore, those are more money parts wise but still could of beat there prices, good luck
