I working on a freinds tractor. Its a 2444 lowboy. It looks to me to be industrial because it is yellow not red. Can anyone tell me anything about this particular tractor. The lowboy name intrigued me to ask how many were made if anyone could tell me? Any help would be appreciated.

IMHO, putting the "2" in front of the "444" designates it as the industrial version of a 444.

It will have a heavier front axle than the 444, and probably more hydraulic capacity.

The "Low Boy" came with smaller diameter wheels than the regular 2444 which gave it a lower profile.

Yep same as regular 2444, just smaller wheels. Need some rims I have 3 rears.

and as stated the 2444 is an industrial 444 and shares the same serial numbers.
They might have an extra crank drinven hydraulic pump, reverser, foot throttle, etc

And will usually have a HD front axle and perhaps more powerful steering 2 rams instead of 1, etc...

btw except for specialized parts all 444 parts work. And many 424 parts also work, but the engine is different.

oh forgot something else. If you work on the brakes use silicone to seal the druns back to the rear housing. Keeps them working a lot longer esp if they have aux hydraulic valves or sit outside.

Oil gets the left brakes and water gets the right one.

Thanks , ill keep it in mind. First things first. I gotta take off the cab to really be able to work on it. As for the rims, were looking for something much narrower than what on it. Maybe an ag tire instead of a turf tire. Thanks for all the help.
