MD transmissions woes! Please help!

Tried to back my MD on the trailer yesterday to take it to a show. Went half way up but didn't make it due to deck being too slippery due to heavy rain the night before. Let it coast back down to the ground. All of a sudden, tractor won't move and stalled when I let out the clutch. I didn't hear any loud noises coming from transmission. With tractor off, I put shifter in neutral and tractor seems to roll, but motor will not turn over unless I push clutch in. This thing was working perfectly before this happened. What did I do wrong ? And what can be done to fix it? I know nothing about transmissions any would highly appreciate any advice.

You should pull the shift lever out of the deck by removing the three bolts that surround it. With a big screw driver, realign the shift rails to the neutral position. Now look at the bottom of the shift lever. The worn corners need to be built up, or it will happen again and again.

sounds like your transmission is stuck in two gears at the same time. Your tractor should not roll if it is stuck in two gears. Pull the shift lever as suggested below, and move the rails back to the neutral position. If that doesn"t work you most likely will have to pull off the transmission case cover to see what the problem is.

On an M you will have to drive out the pin that the lever rides on, just pull whatever holds the spring in place, lift off the spring and cover, and you will have access to the pin.

The 00 series and maybe the SMTA were the first to have the bolted-down shifter tower.
