Borg-Warner electric clutch pump from my old Ford F-350.

Hand crank barrel pushed in to allow installation of two-groove pulley on crankshaft. The U-joint had to be disassembled to make that happen. It has been reassembled and functions.

Another shot of pump and belts. The belts clear the fan shroud by 1/8" and there is even less clearance on the frame rail.

Wider view.

Nice set up! what kind of pressure is it supplying to the forklift? What was the driveshaft under the electrall for, mechanical front wheel drive???

I have had the pump for over 25 years but it was never used much. Should be in good shape. Northern Hydraulics Catalog says it has 2.32 cubic inch per revolution. I think it will put out 15 gallons per minute at 1600 engine rpm. Pressure limit is 3000 psi.

I am actually running the Lewis-Shepard pallet stacker mast with its original electric-hydraulic pump and reservoir. Capacity is 2000 lbs. You can see the high amp plugs in the last picture. The whole rig is quick disconnect as it is fast hitch coupled.

The clutch pump will run an IH balanced head sickle bar mower. I will cut the top and sides of my hedge with it. I had the mower on a Clark forklift but I could not see what I was doing as the hedge is eight feet high.

Yep, the driveshaft will run a Dana 60 front axle from the same Ford F-350. Don't expect any pictures in the near future. I will post some more pictures of the completed hedge clipper soon.

What was the pump used for on the truck? Looks like an A/C compressor. Is the clutch electric, or the whole pump? I'm confused...

One last question- where's Tewksbury? My wife is from Granby (W. Springfield area).

The magnetic clutch is like an automotive AC
compressor clutch. In this case, the clutch is
attached to a hydraulic pump. These units have
been around for 40-50 years. One might think they
could slip under high pressure requirements but
the pump is rated to deliver 3000 psi.

The clutch is activated with 12V DC. The pump is
belt driven.

Tewksbury is between Lowell and Andover. I have
been to Granby. A tractor pull is held in the
town park every year. It is about 100 miles away.

To completely answer your question, I used the pomp for a snowplow and winch. I also ran a pair of hydraulic remotes to the rear of the pickup. Don't recall ever using them.

The snowplow rams were very fast.

Well it still needs a Massage therapy seat (air ride) and heated steering wheel, but it is getting there. Jim

Well Jim,

I could also mount two flat top fenders and bolt up a set of cross flow window air conditioning units on them. I've got enough Electrall power (two generators) for mega tons of cooling. Ya, I might need that heated steering wheel.

I suppose at some point the attachments will suck so much power out of the engine that the tractor will only go forward in low range first gear. When I get to that point, I will have to convert the 400 into a tandem tractor.
