Stuck hand crank on H Self healing!!!

Someone posted a while back about a stuck hand crank on an H. Someone else posted to just grease it up and keep tapping the end once in a while. Well I just shot some grease into the fitting and shot oil every where else around the Ujoint coupler part, low and behold when I turned the stub by hand today it spun around! I never tapped it or anything, just plain forgot to. I guess I better go get a crank handle for it now!

Yep, some are easy and others take some work and time. This is a bolster from a parts 400. I didn't need to disassemble the hand crank mechanism but I wanted to see if the barrel part could be pushed back to provide clearance for the installation of an additional crankshaft pulley on another 400. Ya, I could have used a torch on the other tractor but I don't like making irreparable alterations. This took a couple of days and maybe ten applications of PB Blaster. I also gave it some good vibrations with a needle scaler and hammer. It would have been very difficult had the bolster been attached to a tractor

This is the other 400. It wasn't stuck and came apart fairly easily. Everything is back together, The bolts on the pulley bushing actually engage the points on the hand crank barrel. And it's kinda nice that the pulley bushing is even with the end of the crankshaft. It looks like it might have been factory designed.

Good photos of that. Mine would always push in ok, but forget about turning it more that a half turn. I think it was the u joint part that was stuck. I shot it full of grease and oil last spring.
