how much and what kind of oil for an h

i can"t remember how much oil or what weight do i use in an h crankcase

My '44 H hadn't run in years. I drained all the old stuff, pulled the pan and cleaned out the sludge, and put 6 quarts of 15w40 Diesel oil in it. That was recommended to me on these forums because of the zinc content, which is something these old tractor are said to need.

I've also heard 30w works just fine, but I went with the 15w40.

I use 30 wt. oil from TSC in my 50 H. the same oil I use in my old Case deisel, haven't had any problems so far. I don't use the H in the winter though.

I also use 15w40 Rotella in all of my tractors and trucks.

Any quality 15W-40 is better than the oil it was designed to run on.
