H wide front threaded ears for?

Installing a used factory IH wide front on my Farmall H and wanted to know what the ears w/ threaded holes are for on the bottom of each spindle. Would think they would break it someone tried to use them as a hitch mounting spot.

they are mounting points for mud scrapers on the front wheels. here is a pic of my m with a factory wide front, you can barely see the scraper peeking out from behind the front wheel. there are also mount points on the narrow fronts for the scrapers too.
