560 Diesel drains battery

Neighbor has a 560 d that drains the battery when sitting 2-3 days. He checks cows with it, running 30-40 minutes every few days. Put on new alternator, battery, and solenoid for him this spring after it had set several years. Cables are tight/clean any ideas where to start?

Remove the heavy wire from the alternator. There should be very little draw between those terminals. Maybe 50 to 100 Milliamps max. If more, the diodes are leaking. The same is true of the #1 terminal wire if it is a 10SI Delco. If that is no help, disconnect components one at a time (then reconnect) until the draw is found. Bad batteries will also do that very thing. Change out the battery, or pull a terminal to see if it still goed dead disconnected. JimN
