Does this super AI sound right?

Hi guys, I finally got my 52 super AI running this weekend. Here's a video of it running, I don't think it's right. (I'm a total novice  )

I've adjusted the governer linkage according to the little manual I got online, but the high idle adjusting bolt on the top and the screw on the bottom don't seem to make much difference. (I plan on getting a proper repair manual).

I replaced the ignition parts and set the points to .020

The carb is a carter UT and I couldn't find a rebuild kit anywhere so I just cleaned it up and made new gaskets.

Shouldn't that thumbscrew make the engine stumble when it's screwed in all the way?? (I'm pretty sure the one on my KB3 does that)

I checked the compression and it's 90-100 psi on each cyl.

The vacum above the carb is 10" wc

What do you think's wrong?

Thanks,

Roddy

Pardon me for sounding so frank, but it sounds awful. You've got a very strong miss there. Check spark on all 4. If it is okay, then start chasing a fuel problem or vacuum leak. Been there myself.
Best of luck.

No problem being honest, I wasn't joking when I said I am a total novice! ha ha

I took the distributer off to change the points/condenser/rotor, but I marked where the rotor was pointing before I removed it...but it may not have been right to begin with (this one has been sitting for many years!)

I'll go check spark.

Spark is good on all cyl.

To check for a vacum leak I just spray WD40 around the intake manifold gasket and carb gasket right?

If the engine stumbles I have a leak?

Start it and pull the wires off one at a time to find the cylinder thats missing. Swap the wires around, but keeping them in correct order and see if the miss follows the wires, if it doesnt then swap the plug on the dead cylinder with one of the others and see if it follows the miss. If it does then the plug is bad, if it doesnt swap the cap and see if it does the same thing, if it does, I have a feeling youre heading into the head. Pull the vavlve cover and make sure the rockers havent jumped off and are set right. If they are, then you have a burnt or stuck valve, but Im not hearing any popping.

Thanks John, that's some straightforward troubleshooting! (I'm embarassed I haven't tried that yet).

My manual says the roto-cap's should rotate a bit every time they open, I'll look for that if the wire swap test leads nowhere.

Problem found!

I forgot to shut the petcock under the gas tank off the other night. It filled the engine with gas!

I"ll rebuild the carb, change the oil and go from there.

Thanks for the help!
