Want to make more power out of Super H

Hi all, this is my first post. I have a '53 Super H and have taken it to a few area tractor pulls. I have now decided that I need more power.

In #4500 class I pull about '180 most of the time, not (usually) dead last, but not that good either. Anyway I was looking at parts on the YT site and I see the overbore kits include stepped pistons. These were only on high alt tractors from the factory right?
Any estimates on how much of a power increase the 3 9/16 pistons would give?
What about different carbs?

Thanks.
BTW, I'm on a budget, would like to keep it to 5-700$

There is a pulling board under the Discussion Foums link. Those guys are pretty sharp on tweeking the old iron.

it's probably already got them in the engine. unless you know the entire history of your tractor. it has more than likely been overhauled once or twice in it's liftime and 99% or the time firecraters or m+w over size pistons were installed.

What have you done for general tune up of the engine. Have you optimized the spark advance? Have you opened up the main jet in the carb? As others said, it probably already has oversize pistons and stepped or Firecrater pistons. You also may try removing the oil bath air cleaner and add a simple dry air cleaner or none at all. Roger

Unless the s/n plate is stamped for high alt. pistons at best it may have step heads . With out spending a tone of money a set of 8500 ft pistons a freshening up of the head some C/C work to the head And a cam rebuild with a blue print ing of the cam along with Bigger intake valves and some tricking out of the dist. BY SOMEONE THAT KNOWS HOW TO DO THIS and i am not talking some gearhead that drag races that thinks he knows everything you may pick up 8 to 12 pony power . Now if that is not enough and it won't be then HORSE power costs big bucks and you will need a deep check book . As even STOCK CLASSES are not STOCK anymore
