Need Quick Help- Farmall H Question

Hi all,
I'm trying to get my H put back together for Rollag. I'm getting it back together, I picked up a overhaul gasket set and it included the seal for the timing cover. Here is my problem. I do not have any special tools to remove seals, I flipped the cover and used a socket extension and hammer to pound out the old oil seal. The seal seems to be inside some kind of metal retainer, how do I replace this? I'm having trouble, so if someone can give me some quick help, I'd appreciate it.

Not sure just what you're describing Andy.

Your new seal should look like metal retainer, curved around one the edge of one face and a straight edge on the other. This retains the rubber lips of the seal and the rounded side that has a bit of a face to it gives you a surface to drive it in with.

Does what you drove out not resemble the new one?
