2 questions please about a 340 utility. 1st, when I replace the oil pressure gauge tube from the block to the gauge, does it have to be bled, like a brake line, or will the air in the tube somehow find its own way out (into the crankcase)? 2nd, with the 3 point cylinder at rest, one of the hoses is 'charged.' How is that pressure relieved to remove the hose? Thank you.

Eventually it will work its way out, but bleeding gives a more instantaneous reading.

Take the weight off of the cylinder with blocks, and see if it has pressure. If it does, (with the tractor off, and hitch blocked, move the hitch control levers through their range , then check the "charge" JimN

You don't need to bleed the oil line. Pressure may be slow to get to the gauge, but it will come up. I don't know about the 340, but on my 460 which has the same basic hyd system, I just put a bucket under the cylinder. My cylinder has been off a couple of times without a stream of oil coming out. This is with the Tel-A-Depth system. I am not speaking for the rest of Hydra Touch. If any question on any cylinder, I slowly loosen the hose, making sure I am out of the way. I have seen a pretty good stream of oil in certain cases. Sometimes moving the levers with the engine off relieves the pressure, mostly not. Just be careful.

The oil gauge line should not be bled. They should have air in them. If they get filled with oil, the gauge will be very slow to react in cold weather.
