Bearings: Should I replace them?

My H needs new transmission seals in the hyd. pump access area. I'm going to get the seals and gaskets for it. The question I have is about the bearings. Should I replace them? The reason I ask is because the bearings themselves are almost $30 alone. And with a very limited budget, I'd be able to use that money for a new genny belt, or VR. But at the same time I'm thinking if I replace them now, I won't have to again. Maybe I can replace them when I tear the tractor down to paint (someday)?

What do you guys think? My first instinct is to be cheap, and not replace them until later.

The tractor is not being taken to "as new or better" condition. The tractor is not being put to work. The tractor has no excess noise from tranny. The tractor will be used modestly at 1/5th capacity.
The seal needs replacing. Don't do the bearing. Hello Mike JimN

And, you may find the new bearings are lighter duty than the original (fewer balls) so I like to inspect the bearings and keep them if they are OK. With a show tractor a few pits are OK.

Ditto to everyone. YOU will NEVER wear them out. They lasted the first 50 years and that was when the tractor worked everyday.
The other important thing to remember is they run in a continuous oil bath. It isn't like they are wheel bearings.

From my past experiance, if the seal leaks it was most likely caused by bearing slop. If you want cheap priced bearings call "Coldwell" company in Terre Haute Indiana. Bet you can get the bearings and seals from them for $10-15 for the bearing. They will ship.
