Steering wheel on my M

I have been working to tighten up the steering on my M. Got most of it pretty good but the steeing wheel its self is loose. Its a type I have not seen before on other tractors. It has a large center hub with a rubber bushing inside I would imagine for antivibration. The rubber is old and dried up. Is there a replacement for these or do I need to go with the standard steering wheel? Was this wheel from IH or was it an add on?

I've never seen one like you describe, so I'm guessing it was aftermarket. Replacement original type steering wheels are relatively inexpensive.

Sounds like you have a Hosch steering wheel. They were an aftermarket that was supposed to take the shock out of the wheel when you were going over rough ground. Think they are long out of buisness. Should be able to put a regular steering wheel on it and be fine. Elmer
