farmall a vs super a

There is a hydraulic system on a SA. The hood is a bit more than an inch higher, Some SAs had water pumps, and late SAs had a fast hitch system. Engine blocks differ at some Serial number, to allow use of 123CID O.D. sleeves. Just some elements listed here. JimN

The primary difference was the addition of a hydraulic lift system on the Super A. The engines were the same size (113 c.i.), but the SA had a whisker more compression. The hoods were also the same height, as was the grill. Later Super A's could have the fast hitch option, but not many did.
Caveat: The very last of the Super A's in the later part of 1954 were designated "Super A-1" tractors. They had a larger engine (123 c.i.), taller grill and hood - and they had waterpumps. Their serial numbers started at 356,001. Basically, other than minor cosmetics, the Super A-1's were the same as a Farmall 100.
