International 674 -- 239 engine

I just put an overhaul kit in and the engine starts and Idle"s great but when I try to speed up it acts like it is getting flooded. Can anyone tell me what is wrong? Thanks Dave

Since you say 239 engine, I am assuming a D-239 Diesel engine. When you say overhaul kit, what was actually done?
Re flooding of Diesel engine, basic check would be valve adjustment and air flow from air filter.
If rings were replaced it takes some running to set the rings.
Was the injection pump or timing gears removed during overhaul?

Thank you jim it was the valve adjustment I had them just a little too tight. Dave
